Supervision for

Academic Interns & Provisional Licensees

The Red River Institute is closing.  However, the experienced Approved Supervisors who have for a decade and half offered quality supervision will continue to provide a complete training experience for individuals who are qualifying as Provisional Licensees (PLMFTs and PLPCs) and Academic Interns who are completing their practicum and internship in marriage and family therapy or mental health counseling as part of their graduate degree program.

Your Training Experience

Provisional Licensees and Academic Interns receive training under the supervision of experienced licensed practitioners who are State-Approved Clinical Supervisors.  As part of their private practices, supervisors provide a fully functioning clinical setting that gives students a glimpse of every aspect of a successful practice in mental health counseling and family therapy. Programming is specifically designed to equip graduate students to transition smoothly to the next phase of their professional training.

Supervisors offer an intensive, "hands on" training experience that utilizes a blend of team consultation, live observation, and video and audio recording review.  This approach allows our experiened supervisors to quickly identify trainees' clinical strengths while coaching them in the development of key clinical skills.

Students who are enrolled in qualifying degree programs in marriage and family therapy or mental health counseling or individuals who qualify in Louisiana for the PLMFT or PLPC license may apply for supervision by filling out an application and submitting it electronically or by mail.
