Our therapists are all experienced mental health professionals, either Masters or Doctoral level practitioners, and licensed as Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) or Professional Counselors (LPCs). Howie Brownell, MS, LMFT
Howie is a graduate of Harding University with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, working with individuals, couples, and families with a variety of presenting problems. Howie is also the chaplain for the fire department in the rural community where he lives with his wife of 15 years and his 12 year-old-daughter.
Rita Cook MA, LPC
Rita is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor, and a Nationally Certified School Counselor. Rita has worked in the school system for more than thirty years helping students and families with emotional, behavioral, and academic related problems. Rita is in private practice in north Webster Parish.

Penny Millhollon, MA, LPC-S, LMFT-S
Penny is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a MA in Marriage & Family Therapy. She is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. In addition to her private practice, Penny works as a therapist at Family Plus in Shreveport and is also a State Approved Supervisor in Marriage & Family Therapy. Penny loves to travel and worked in Scotland as a counselor for ten years.

Kelly Tyner, PhD, LMFT
Dr. Kelly Tyner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Clinical Fellow of AAMFT. She hold a Master's and a Ph.D in Marrriage and Family Therapy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. In addition to her work with the Red River Institute, Dr. Tyner serves as a Marriage and Family Therapist at the Shreveport Vet Center through Overton Brook VA Medical Center and maintains a private practice.

Brooke Thompson, MA, PLMFT
Brooke earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University and is completing her licensing process under the supervision of the Red River Institute supervisory team. Brooke is trained to work with individuals, couples, and families on a variety of presenting problems and sees clients for a reduced fee according to the need of the client.
